My first release + updates on it!
Hi! I've released my first program, as you can see!
It has reached 296 downloads in 24 hours! I'm happy you all took interest in it! The positive response warms my heart! Here are some updates about the app:
I'm currently writing down what I'll try to work on for the next update. The biggest issues brought up were:
1. Rendering freezes while window is MINIMIZED
2. Slow rendering time
About 1, that's a Godot Engine issue. However, the latest dev snapshot doesn't have that problem, so when the stable version comes out soon, I'll update the app and that should be fixed. Until then, don't minimize the render window (you can still focus on other windows though)
About 2, that also seems to be a Godot (or universal) thing. I've done all I can to make it fast, but keep in mind that it's still writing PNGs files for every frame, for a 1440p 60FPS video, that takes a while.
I'm planning to introduce an option to change resolution, so the video can be rendered faster. But it's 1440p by default for a reason: YouTube won't demolish the quality. But it's better to have that option anyway. Until then, if you care more about the render time than the visuals, I recommend not using grain, and using the solid colors background.
Another important update I wanna add is WAV and OGG importing. OGG importing is already possible, I just didn't add it because I didn't think anyone would use that . Also for WAV importing, Godot doesn't have a built-in method for that as of 4.3. I could still find one online, since it uses byte manipulation and I'm not knowledgable about that, but 4.4 is coming soon, and that version has a WAV importing method.
Other update considerations: - Cap FFmpeg's resource usage (optional) - Trim silence in the beginning - Other bug fixes until then and maybe some new features!
